FAQs

New to yoga? Here’s what you need to know.

Please arrive 15 minutes early to give yourself time to park, get up to the studio (we’re located on the 4th floor of the 3rd Street Lifestyle Center), check in, and set up your practice space. The studio will open 20 minutes prior to class time. All classes require preregistration and prepayment as class sizes are limited to allow for extra space. For your safety, our door is locked once class starts. Plans change?  Please cancel your registration at least 2 hours in advance to avoid being charged.

How do I register for classes through Punchpass?

Punchpass has an app to let you easily access your account, reservations, and passes while on the go. However it's not available in 'App' stores - it is installed a little differently because it is what is called a 'Progressive Web App'. Below are instructions on how to quickly install it, for both iPhones and Android. Thank you!

iPhone Installation:

Apple does not prompt you to install the app, so it needs to be done manually. It's simple - click on the Share button in the middle of the nav bar, scroll down and choose Add to Home Screen, and then click Add on the next page. Click on the icon on your homescreen to get started.

Android Installation:

On Android you will be prompted to install the app - Add Punchpass to Home screen will appear at the bottom of this page. Click it, and you will be prompted to Install app - Punchpass Class Management. Click install to continue. Now click on the icon on your homescreen to log in and get started.

Not feeling well?

For your well-being and the well-being of your fellow yogis, please refrain from attending class if you are under the weather. Stay home and rest until your symptoms resolve.

Where should I park?

You will find 2-hours of free parking throughout downtown Wausau, on street and in off street parking facilities. Parking enforcement operates 8am-6pm M-F. Parking is free on weekends, New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and day after, and Christmas Day. If you choose to park in one of the lots or parking ramps, park and register your license plate using the lot’s pay station or Passport Parking phone app. First 2 hours are free per day.

What’s different about Sundays at the studio?

The exterior doors of Third Street Lifestyle Center are locked on Sundays. Thanks to the generosity of the management of Jimmy John’s, you can enter the building through their doors located on Washington Street. And perhaps grab a sandwich after class!

What do I need to bring?

You will need a yoga mat, towel and a bottle of water. There are NO yoga mats available for use from the studio.

What should I wear?

Wear light, dry-weave fabrics and non-restrictive clothing. The most common attire for women is yoga pants or shorts and a tank top. Men usually wear shorts with boxer briefs and a t-shirt or tank top.

What else do I need to know?

  • The practice space is heated to 80-85 degrees but expect temperatures and humidity levels to rise in accordance with the number of yogis in the room, the amount of sunlight coming into the studio, and the season of the year.

  • Please turn off your phone. Even phones on ‘silent' often still make a loud buzzing sound when they ring. Unless you absolutely must be available in case of emergency, please turn your phone off or leave it in your car.

  • Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water before, during and after class. There are multiple bottle filling stations throughout Third Street Lifestyle Center, but please bring your own refillable bottle.

  • Come to your practice free of any and all odors. This includes body odor, cigarette smell as well as any perfumes or essential oils that could be distracting or overwhelming to other students during practice.

  • If you like to do your own thing during class, please plan on being at the back of the room. It can be confusing to other students when someone is doing something completely different than what the teacher is instructing. Please be respectful of others following the lead of the instructor at the front of the room.

  • Stay until the end of class. If you need to leave early, please let your teacher know in advance and make your quiet exit before final rest.

  • If you are under 18 years old, your parent/guardian must sign your waiver. Students over 16 years of age may attend classes at Shift Yoga Studio on their own, as long as we have a signed waiver. At this time, we do not allow anyone under 16 years old in our regular classes.

  • Please care for the props and studio space as if it were your home.

  • Remember that we are all community. Be kind and courteous to one another, to your teacher, and to others you encounter in the building. Our hope is that you leave feeling better than when you arrived. As you leave, pause in gratitude, for you are part of something very special, and we are honored to have you here.
